Quote Left Hi all, just had a week at your complex and fished swim 7 on fox for 3 fish: 37 lb, 36lb and 47lb. The lake fished hard but was well worth it. My mate fished swim 17 on Heron and what a week with 18 fish to 49lb which included 4 fish over 40 pound including a lovely common. All the fish were stunning. Back soon. Quote Left

Quote Left Just to let you know our trip to Abbey Lakes was excellent.
Steve the Bailiff was friendly and very helpful. The fishing was not that great due to the very hot weather but a great time was had and we are looking to go back later in the year. Quote Left

Quote Left If I had to call anywhere my second home then it would definitely be Abbey Lakes. I really do love everything about the place. Being just a two hour drive from Calais means even a short two-nighter is never out of the question, and on arrival I am always greeted by friendly helpful staff and a fresh cup of coffee.
All of the lakes hold stunning big fish up to 80lb with no silly rules and parking behind the swims. When I don’t want to cook myself, the food available in the Abbey clubhouse is excellent and can be eaten there or even delivered to the bank.
Get yourself booked in!!! Quote Left

Quote Left I have been involved with Abbey Lakes since it burst onto the carp scene back in 1999 and back then it was a 20's water with one fish that nudged 40lbs. Over the years it has changed from a runs water to a proper big fish water.

The carp are, without question, stunning and knock spots off most French fish. “They look English” is a comment that I receive all of the time, and considering that they run to just over 80lbs you can see why I am so excited about the place. I love it there. The complex has everything that you need, the carp are the right balance of challenging to catch but not to tricky, and it’s so close to the port it’s dead easy to get to. The only problem is………… I want to go there all the time. Quote Left

Quote Left Just a quick message to let you know how we got on.

We arrived on Saturday 1st April after following the instructions supplied to us and were met at the clubhouse by bailiffs Steve and Rhys with a very welcome cup of proper French coffee. Good start!

After booking in we made our way out onto the lake which was very clean and tidy. Immediately you could see there had been a lot of thought about the layout and even a map in each swim to show features and boundaries. Soon after starting we were visited by the bailiffs to make sure we had settled in ok and to see if there was anything we needed. Our evening meals were delivered at 6.30pm sharp, and bloody marvelous they were too!! We also decided to have breakfast in the clubhouse each morning. Each and every meal was fantastic, with ample portions and really tasty.

We found the lakes really interesting with lots of features to find and with the booking policy the way it is there was always a choice of swims to move to. As for the fish.... Well, I would have loved to be able to send you a pic of us holding our trophy shots but as fishing isn't always that easy, I'm afraid we all blanked. Even so we enjoyed a fantastic, relaxed few days and we will definitely be back. And of course, carp fishing is about so much more than catching.

Thank you for all your help, and keep doing it just the way you are now. Quote Left

Quote Left I visited Abbey Lakes twice in very quick succession late last autumn. I had been seeing pictures of some stunning carp for a while and it was the one place I had been planning on visiting should the chance arise - so when i actually got there i was a tad excited to say the least.

I managed to catch fish over 40lb on both occasions, but the very relaxed way the complex is run suits my style of angling. If you fancy a move it's simply a case of slinging the gear back in the van and driving around until you find some fish.......simples!!

The place is as clean as anywhere I've ever been in France and the showers & toilets are equally as palatial. Add to that, it's under 2 hours from Calais too. Well, as you can see I cant wait to get back in July!
